About the Owners
Varuska Denysschen was born into a very creative family and was constantly surrounded by art, music and creativity. Her grandmother was her biggest inspiration to one day make a living from her art. This caused Varuska to take Visual Arts as a subject in high school where she made sure to exceed in the classroom and eventually got a distinction for Visual Arts in matric. After matric Varuska went on to study Jewellery Design and Manufacturing at the University of Johannesburg. She received a Merit Award from Platafrica in 2013 for one of her platinum designs and also received distinctions in many of her subjects. After graduation Varuska decided to not let her love for Visual Arts go and became a Visual Arts teacher for Gr 10 - 12 and at the same time continued to grow Troupand. In June 2021, after five years of teaching, Varuska was at a place where she felt comfortable to leave the education sector in order to pursue her dream of being a full time jeweller. Varuska together with her husband, Pieter, now manages Troupand and loves every second of building their dream together.
Pieter focuses on the sourcing of stone for clients and also day to day managerial tasks. He plays an integral role in the growth of Troupand Jewellery.
Varuska and Pieter would like to thank every customer that has trusted Troupand Jewellery to be a part of their journey of love, covenant and friendship and they are excited for what the future holds and every piece of jewellery they will create.
